First time mother "Brownie" who lives on Whistler Mountain gave birth to not one, but three bear cubs on Whistler Mountain. In the last 14 years that Whistler Bear Researcher Michael Allen has been studying bears, this is only the 4th time a Whistler resident female has given
birth to 3 cubs.

Whistler work crews broke ground on the $51 Million Peak to Peak Gondola Project in Whistler on May 15, 2007 with the project scheduled for completion in December, 2008 in time for Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains 2008/2009 ski season - plenty of time before the 2010 Winter Olympic Games!

Each cabin will have a capacity of 28 people and 24 seated. There will be 28 cabins on the line transporting skiers, snowboarders and foot passengers between Whistler and Blackcomb mountain.

The Gondola breaks several records including the longest free span and the biggest distance to the ground in any ski resort in the world.

Whistler Mountain has opened on Saturday November 17 for the 2007/08 ski season!

The Mountain opens with 1,200 acres of skiable terrain with 1,821 vertical feet of lift access. The Mountain reports a 183 centimetre / 72 inches at Pig Alley. Lift tickets for the opening weekend are $56.

All mountain services are open including guest services, food and beverage, ski and snowboard school, rental, repairs and retail operations.

Blackcomb Mountain, Whistler Mountain's sister peak, is scheduled to open Thursday November 22.

[Whistler Mountain notes that it's still early season so some unmarked rocks and obstacles may be on open runs. They also note that open terrain is recommended for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Plus all Operations are dependent on weather and subject to change.]
