Featuring men and women events, the races are happening on Creekside, just above Alpine Whistler's Taluswood accommodations. The best ski racers are coming to Whistler to compete in the Men's Super G, Women's Downhill, Men's Giant Slalom and Women's Super Combined. Imagine the thrill! World-class athletes buzzing down the hill at 120 kilometers per hour, enthusiast fans ringing cow bells on the hill and a plethora of parties and concerts to celebrate this very special event.

The action will be happening on Creekside but most of the runs will remain open all over both mountains, so you can go for a run in between races. There will be spectator pods all along the courses and at the bottom of course, so it's easy to come and watch your favorite team and skiers.

Everyone is more very excited that the World Cup circuit is coming back to Whistler this season, and that all athletes are going to be able to discover the Olympicy and Paralympic runs for 2010. At Alpine Whistler, we are thrilled, with th races happening just around our accommodations on the Dave Murray Downhill course. Watching World Cup and Olympic events from your living room? February, like every other months, is packed with events and activities in Whistler, British Columbia. Have a look at what there is to do and see!

We start the month under the sun with the 2nd Annual Mixican Whistler Week, from January 26 to February 4. Mexicans have always come to Whistler to enjoy a bit of winter wonderland and we are glad! To celebrate this nation, special training days, shopping events, apres parties and more are planned. Mexicans and non-Mexicans alike will enjoy their time!

With February also comes the two-year wait until the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic events. To celebrate (and be patient), a month-long celebration of local arts and culture with music, exhibitions, performances...

Just after the Mexican Week, the Winter Pride is taking the scene. More skiing and boading events, more parties, more culinary diners.. More of Whistler. From February 3 to 10.

From the 6th to the 11th, men and women will compete in Downhill and Super Combined events for the Pontiac GMC Canadian Championships.

And the best of the best will stay for the next week's event: FIS World Cup Alpine Ski Races between February 18 and 24. The races will be women's Downhill and Super Combined and the men's Super G and Giant Slalom.

February 27 to 29 it will be the Snow Sculpting event on Whistler Mountain. Two creations will appear from the snow at the Roundhouse. An extraordinary art show that will only last until the sun shines.

With an action-packed month coming up (and we didn't tell you about everything!), there are plenty of reason to come to Whistler. Whether it is skiing, partying, cultural events, sport competitions or everything together. choose your dates and book today with Alpine Whistler to be sure not to miss anything!

Whistler's book lovers finally get a new place to hang out, for kids, teenagers, researchers and all readers.

On Saturday, January 25, the new Whistler Library will open its doors to the public with a short ceremony and visit of the new building. And book checkouts will be available right away for everybody's pleasure.
The construction has been on going for months and the building respond to Whistler's green vision with a sustainable site, efficient water and energy systems, sustainable materials and much more.

Books and magazines will be available to read at the library in the lounge or to take home. Kids and Teens will have their own reserved areas with reading space and couches and more. Activities for all age groups will be organized, whether it is story times for the little ones or meeting with authors for the older ones. The public will have access to free wireless internet access and a public access computer centre with all new computers donated by Shaw and internet access and database search capabilities.

The library is a great improvement for the Whistler community but will also be a great place for visitors, with reading space and work stations. Whether you want somewhere to chill after a day on the slopes or are looking for a book for your little one, or you need to work on this proposal for work that was due yesterday, the Library will become a central location for all.

Make it one more reason to come to Whistler! Alpine Vacation will be happy to help you find the right accommodation.
