
With the addition of the Whistler Olympic Park, we are one step closer to 2010. The Whistler Olympic Park, located in the gorgeous Callaghan Valley, has many features including a 55 kilometer trail for cross country skiing.
A 5 kilometer trail has also been set up for night skiing in Whistler. The trail is fully lit and offers skiers the opportunity to ski when it best suites their schedule.
Other features include the biathlon range and stadium, a day lodge, snowshoeing trails and ski jumps with breath taking views to make your visit to Whistler more than worth the drive.The four days of testing and evaluation by the International Bobsleigh and Tobogganing Federation (FIBT), the International Luge Federation (FIL) and the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) will allow the venue operators to move ahead with the next phase of planning and have the facility fully operational in the coming months.
The Whistler Sliding Center is the 15th Sliding Center to be built worldwide and has undergone 4 days of intensive testing. The evaluation of the Sliding Center was carried out by the FIBT (International Bobsleigh and Tobogganing Federation), FIL (International Luge Federation) and VANOC (Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These tests and evaluations will allow the builders and operators to continue planning the next phase in order to have the facility complete, long before the opening of the 2010 winter Olympic games.
